Insightful, Biblical Devotions
“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people” (Titus 2:11).
The presence of grace is made known to everyone because there is the visible manifestation of grace in the person of Jesus Christ. Christ came into this world and broke into our helpless situation to rescue us from the punishment of sin. That shows you that God’s grace has come to all people. Grace is the person and work of Jesus Christ, who came into this world and destroyed the power of sin over humanity. God’s grace came with salvation. Salvation pictures a loving and a holy God coming near to unholy people for no other reason than to give His unmerited favour. That means God has offered salvation to everyone.
The question is, will you take this offer? Who are the recipients of God’s grace? The offer is to murderers, prostitutes, liars, lesbians, gay people, and in fact, all people. All of us are recipients of God’s unmerited favour. Jesus is the atoning sacrifice for our sins and not for ours only, that’s Christians who have accepted Him, but also for the sins of the whole world. So, is the Bible advocating universal salvation? Not at all. When Jesus bore the sins of the world on the cross, He opened the door of hope: He made redemption possible to all who are willing to receive it. Grace is what God does for us and it’s consistent towards everybody. It’s independent of your actions. That’s the greatness and glory of which we cheat ourselves when we refuse His offer. The offer is on the table. Take it now.
