“A certain man gave a great supper and invited many, 17 and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, ‘Come, for all things are now ready.’ 18 But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.’ 19 And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.’ 20 Still another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come” (Luke 14:16-20).
Our saviour and Lord Jesus Christ who gave this parable more than 2000 years ago has instructed His followers to spread the good news of the gospel. As a messenger of God, I’m announcing to you that God wants you to be saved and to serve Him. You, who have received Christ, what is stopping you from serving Him? What’s stopping you from fellowshipping with Him? Are you too busy going about your daily routines so it is difficult for you to have time for God?
Are you also making excuses to reject God’s word? Don’t allow Satan to help you to make excuses. He is ever ready to supply you with excuses. He will persuade you to procrastinate your morning devotion today, and then supply you with more excuses in the days, months, and years to come. God wants you to seek Him first, so this is a daily and hourly sin if you neglect His fellowship. It is also a missed opportunity to communicate with the Lord and to seek direction for your daily routines. Reader, renew your mind and be mindful of the things of God. I pray that God will help you to do so.
