Insightful, Biblical Devotions
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33 NIV).
There is a difference between the joy the world has and the joy you experience as a Christian. There’s a difference in the joy we have in the world when there’s just no problem. But we don’t live in a world where there are no problems. We don’t live in a situation where there’s no problem most often. Most of the time you have one problem or another on the horizon; one will surely be coming. Don’t be deceived. We don’t live in a world where there are no problems.
The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all (Psalm 34:19 NIV). “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me” (Ps. 50:15). Where is your focus? The Lord delivers us from all troubles, so focus on God. Everyone living righteously will suffer persecution. Anyone who follows Christ will face troubles. Yes, troubles will come but the good thing is, God has overcome the world. That means we need to walk by faith and not by sight.
