Walk In Love Towards Others

“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” 37 Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself’ (Mat. 22:36-38).

The greatest thing any of us can do is to love God and to love people. That is the number one thing that God has given us to do. God expects us to love Him and love our neighbour as ourselves. The New Testament commandment to “love our neighbour as ourselves” (Rom. 13:9) is definitely vital to our present relationship with the heavenly Father. Once you understand just how much God loves you, it’s not hard to love Him with all your heart, soul, and mind and to love others as yourself. Yet, many claim to love God and still don’t walk in love toward others.

In living a life as a helper to a neighbour, Jesus told a parable of a good Samaritan, making reference to a certain man who went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. In the parable, our Lord highlighted efforts of a certain Samaritan, who went to the aid of the man, and his actions in response to the incident (Luke 10:30-37). In such service we become true Christians and we have loved our neighbour as ourselves. ‘Go and do likewise.’ Our Lord said.
