“The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray” (Prov. 12:26).
Even though we have the privilege of coming to the Lord and asking Him the direction for our lives, He said it’s also wise to seek godly counsel. Not just any counsel but godly counsel. Counsel from Spirit filled people. If I’m in a situation and I want to know the truth, I want to talk to somebody whose lifestyle, first of all, is one that I can trust. I’m going to talk to somebody who I know will be absolutely honest with me whether I like it or not. Although, God answers prayer, in spite of the fact that we have to come to Him and seek Him for direction, He also encourages us to seek godly wise counsel. And so, we have the privilege of giving instructions and giving counsel to others.
The Bible says it’s wise to seek advice from people we trust. Learn to carefully evaluate any instructions you receive because people have listened to ungodly and unwise counsel and have found themselves deeply in immoral bondage. Because others have refused godly counsel and have chosen ungodly counsel, they have lost financially, others have lost their families and jobs.
Most often, people choose wrong career because of wrong counsel. Sometimes people make decisions, and they regret for the rest of their lives, because they listened to ungodly unwise counsel. It’s very important who we listen to and what we listen to. We must understand how to discern regarding what’s godly and what’s ungodly counsel.
