“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand” (John 10:27-28).
We are assured of our security if we make Christ Jesus our shepherd. Jesus said “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep” (John 10:11). When we follow the great shepherd, we have a sense of security. Look at how much insecurity there is in the world. How much apprehension, how much people are thinking ‘what’s going to happen next’? When is the next economic downturn, when is the next wave of pandemic, when is the next financial meltdown? The world will try to put so much fear into people.
Jesus is the prince of peace. David said, ‘I will fear no evil because you are with me’. He didn’t say there was no evil. He said I will fear no evil because you are with me. If we can understand the Lord is our shepherd, then He is committed to us. You see, sheep can wander off and all we like sheep have gone astray. But the day you start feeling like you are on your own, you are to fend for yourself and your family, you have to watch out for your own career, protect yourself against the enemy, the day you become anxious for things, then you have not humbled yourself. It means you are living independent of God and that’s dangerous, that’s pride.
