“Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted” (1 Cor. 10:6).
This is talking about the Israelites, when they came out of Egypt, and we learn some things through them. The things we learn make for life-expanding resolutions. The Bible records the events of the lives of some Old Testament saints. And to understand and learn from them, we, as believers must appreciate the truths as beauty in the stories themselves. Some of you may say these were Old Testament figures. I just want to show you the importance of learning at the expense of other people, so you are not to figure everything out on your own.
Let’s look at 1 Corinthians 10:6-11: “6 Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted. 7 And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.” 8 Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell; 9 nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents; 10 nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer. 11 Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come”. Take note to always choose to learn at the expense of others.
