15 “My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world” (John 17: 15-18).
There is more to life than earning a living, having a family, growing old, and going to heaven. We are supposed to make a difference in our world as we pass through. We need to live so that someone will miss us and what we gave when we are gone. The purpose of Jesus is not only to save our lives. You may have been saved a couple of months, or many years ago. The reason Jesus saved you, is to do a miracle work in you. People say I’m saved to go to heaven. If you are saved just to go to heaven, you will be there right now. If He only saved you to go to heaven, every person that will be saved will be translated to heaven because heaven is a much better place than here on this earth, where we are now. Jesus prayed to the father in John 17, that I do not ask you to take believers or the disciples out of this world.
Jesus said I just do the things that my father sent me to do. And if Jesus Christ who is living in us is the same yesterday, today and forever, then I tell you my friend there’s no way that Jesus Christ is living in you and me and doing the things that the father sent Him to do unless He is able to express Himself through us in involving ourselves in Kingdom work. The gospel of Christ has the power to transform peoples’ lives (see Rom. 1:16-17). We are to speak to people from different walks of life about the gospel, to mobilize and to start conversation and drive change – in the life of an individual or wider society. You need to look at some of the incredible performances of God’s servants who use the gospel to bring changes to society.
