“Listen! Behold, a Sower went out to sow” (Mark 4:3).
How do we know He is speaking and not us or somebody else? If you want to listen to God, go into the word of God. When people say God has spoken to them, I can tell them if it’s true or not. The reason I’m saying this is that if what they are saying contradicts the word of God, then God didn’t say it. God is not somebody who contradicts. Has He said and he will not do it? (Num. 23:19). He is not a God of confusion. If I’m saying God has spoken to me and it contradicts the word of God, then I’m creating confusion.
If I’m going to listen to Him, I must start with the word of God. Secondly, I must be filled with the Holy Spirit and be in His presence. God speaks to the Holy Spirit who speaks to our Spirit and gives us instructions to carry out. The next is prayer. If I’m going to listen to Him, then I must talk to Him. Prayer is talking to Him and listening to Him but many at times we spend all our time talking instead of listening.
