Insightful, Biblical Devotions

And the Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, 18 since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? 19 For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him” (Gen.18:17-19).

The Lord gave Abraham one of the greatest commendations and said He wouldn’t hide anything from Abraham because He (God) had known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice. Do your fellow believers, strangers, and the general public hold you in great esteem for your Christian walk and conduct? What brings you the greatest amount of joy when people talk about you and your children? Do you want them to say, your son is handsome, or your daughter is beautiful? “Your son or daughter is so educated and intelligent. They are always the best and doing fantastic in sports?”. And on and on they go. Or would you rather hear them say, “I love your son and daughter because they are walking in truth with courage, confidence and commitment to Jesus Christ?”

It’s the way we raise and bring them up and live before them. Do you read the Bible with your Children? Do your children see you read the Bible? Do they hear you read and explain it to them? Where is your Bible? It’s the eternal, infallible word of God. It’s a book for life by which all of us would be judged. The Bible gives guidelines for raising godly children. Where is it in your family? Godly children are those who have love and devotion for God. It doesn’t happen automatically; it takes work to produce godly children. The only message that will transform our children is the word of the living God.
