“And you shall say to him, ‘The Lord God of the Hebrews has sent me to you, saying, “Let My people go, that they may serve Me in the wilderness” (Exo. 7:16).
You can serve God wherever you are, at your workplace, in your school, university, etc. Put God first and you will be blessed (Mat. 6:33). We serve God by doing His kingdom business. “I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. 18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world” (John 17:15-18). Heaven is a far better place than here and yet God has left us here. Why? To do His business.
Your work is unique. What Samson came to do on this earth was different from what Abraham, Isaac, Joseph – the son of Jacob, Paul, the rest of the apostles, Mary, Joseph – the husband of Mary, Joseph of Arimathea and many other Bible characters came to do. Kingdom business is different from worldly business where people are running around doing what everyone else is doing.
Why are many Christians not doing God’s business? There could be many reasons. Among the obvious are:
- Going to Church is more about getting my needs met than reaching the lost.
- Churches and Christians do not want to share the truth of the Gospel for fear they will offend others.
- Our churches and their members have too many activities. They are too busy to do the things that matter to them.
Are you doing His kingdom business?
