“In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe” (Heb. 1:1-2).
Many people aim to read the Bible in a year which is good. But it’s important to read a portion at a time and allow God to speak to your heart and instruct you regarding what you’ve read. The motivation for reading the word is for the word to change your life. When you read the Bible, you learn how God worked with His people in the Bible. And He works the same way today. He is the same (Heb. 13:8).
God speaks to us also through circumstances. Sometimes He allows things to happen, and He speaks through circumstances. He guides us through circumstances. He closes one door and opens another one. And he helps us to realise this way is error or this way is right. He also speaks through others. You come to church to hear a sermon, understand it, apply it to your life and grow in your Christian life. God speaks to children through their parents. See the book of proverbs it’s full of ‘listen’, ‘listen’, ‘listen’. But watch out! Any word that contradicts the word of God is not His word. If you don’t listen to Him, you make mistakes and hurt other people. You will drift into sin and give unnecessary excuses.
