God Desires Everyone To Be Saved

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and [reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Tim. 2:1-4).

I remember when I was a beginning Christian, I wanted Christ to rapture us immediately so that sinners will be left behind to suffer. I was wrong because at that time, I hadn’t warned my friends and people in my neighbourhood about the consequences of rejecting salvation. As I grew in my walk with the Lord, one of my prayers has been, ‘Lord, help me to bring many people to the knowledge of you’.  I think that should be one of the prayers of every believer, because that’s the desire of God.

That doesn’t mean we just pray and sit down without taking action to labour in God’s harvest field for souls. We need to disciple people. We need to tell new converts that salvation is not just missing hell and finding heaven. Although, the salvation ‘package’ includes escaping hell and finding your way to heaven, there’s a lot more to salvation than many think. Salvation involves having intimate relationship with God. Live for God, disciple people, win souls for the Kingdom and bring glory to God. That’s why God describes us as salt and light on this earth (Mathew 5:13-16). In this coming year, make it your desire to speak to people about Jesus. Make it your desire to have a deeper relationship with God through fellowship. And above all, make it your desire to live for God and be a salt and light to your world. God bless you!
