“Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey” (Zechariah 9:9).
Believe in your King and follow Him. Let Him be your Lord, saviour, master, and shepherd. I’m talking about the King who came to confront your sin and your need, and to offer Himself as a sacrificial lamb and to give you a gracious salvation through faith in His name. He is King Jesus the King of Kings and the Lord of lords.
King Jesus is an extraordinary King. His character is described in Zechariah 9:9. “Behold, your king is coming,” not an unknown king, not a foreign king, but Your king. “Your Messiah is coming to you.” He is a true king who is righteous, who is Himself a saviour, and who is meek. Your King comes to you. I might just say the fact that He’s coming to you is kind of weird, is kind of irrational, is kind of strange and contrary to what mostly happens with kings: they don’t come to you, you go to them.
