Insightful, Biblical Devotions
“For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come” (1 Tim. 4:8).
Yes, bodily exercise profits a little, don’t neglect the little, but bear in mind that spiritual exercise profits most. Therefore, don’t concentrate only on the physical or the flesh. If you are not feeding yourself with the word of God, if you are not meditating on the word of God, if you are not reading your bible, if you are not praying, then you are not feeding your spirit. Your harvest will then be corruption. ‘Seedtime and harvest time will never cease’. Farmers know that if they plant a seed in the right season, they will definitely get a harvest. God wants you to increase in every area of your life.
Some are increasing in worldly knowledge, but how much do they know about God? Learn more about Jesus Christ than the celebrities of today. What do you know about what God is saying concerning the environment, concerning relationships, concerning your finances, concerning the things that are abomination to Him, concerning your life? How much do you know? You must strive to know as much as you can. “7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. 8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come” (1 Tim. 4:7-8 NIV).
