“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, 24 but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord of Host” (Jer. 9:23-24).
Our confidence must be in God, the creator of heaven and earth and everything in it. The whole of the universe is upheld by the power of His word. He is the Lord of all, so don’t trust and boast in your riches, in your strength, in your wisdom and achievements. Think about yourself and other people, how many people are bragging about the things that they know. How many people talk about their degrees, frame them, and put on the wall and take great pride in them. We are not saying it’s wrong to have accomplishments and to use them, but in a relative and comparative sense, how many people actually glory or boast in God and their relationship with God more than they boast in their education, more than they boast in their wisdom, more than they boast in all the things that they have done that is proving their wisdom.
Intelligence, power, and riches can all make people think that they are in control – but the idea that you are in control always comes to an end. In contrast to the proud, arrogant, boastful people, believers must boast that they know the Lord and refuse to say anything about themselves and ministry that is not true and God given. We are to boast only in God that we know Him.
If you have not trusted Christ as your personal saviour, there is nothing worth to boast about, but if you will, you may receive Him right now.
