“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them” (Mat. 18:19-20).
A prayer meeting is a divine appointment with the almighty God. Gathering together in the church is a divine appointment with the Lord. God has made a promise to meet His people there, and He is never late. He is on time; He honours the appointment to be there. God is always with us but until you create an atmosphere for Him, you will not be aware of His presence. That atmosphere could be created through prayer, praise, and worship, studying the word, and meditating on the word of God.
My house is the house of prayer (Mat. 21:13). Christ describes His church as a house of prayer. Prayer must be a solid activity in the church, otherwise it falls short of what it’s intended to be. If the house of God ceases to be a house of prayer, then it has become something else. You are the temple of God (1 Corinthians 3:16), and your temple should be a “house of prayer”, or it becomes a “den of thieves”. These thieves, or powers of darkness, will steal and rob from your temple, which is your body (1 Corinthians 6:19). They will steal and rob you of your strength, health, youthfulness, wisdom, hopes and dreams.
