Even for praying, studying, and serving, I don’t want to do that out of my own strength. I don’t want to have a relationship with God out of my own strength. I want to do that out of the strength of God inside of me. Therefore, I run to him and say ‘Lord, show me the best way to do it. What should I be reading, and Lord, how do I pray and how do I interact and serve’? So that I’m relying on the Spirit rather than trying to do it by the flesh.
The Bible says in Second Corinthians chapter 5 verse 17 that ‘Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new’. We need to understand the new creation reality that when we became born again, the spirit of God came to live inside of us. Not a spirit, nor an angel came to live inside of you. The spirit of God himself came to live inside of you. That means all the might, all the power, all the fullness of the Godhead bodily live inside of you and the enemy does not want us to realize that.
You need to understand that all the character and potency of God and the personification of Christ are in you by the Holy Spirit. Christ in you the hope of glory. So, when you say Christ is in a person, you are looking for all of the beauty and the glory and power of God in that person. The righteousness of God is encapsulated in us. A Christian is not just a religious person. A Christian is a person in whom Christ resides. The Bible says that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. May Christ find a home in your heart, settle in, and make it his abode. May Christ also make a home in your body and dwell within you. When you become like Jesus, it is because everything within you has transformed. Through Christ, God’s character and essence are exemplified within us, allowing for this transformation to be possible for all. That’s why the Bible says in 1 John 4:17 that ‘as he is, so are we in this world’.
Often, the adversary causes distractions by placing obstacles in our path, attempting to divert our attention away from our goals. This can lead to us becoming distracted and trying to solve the issue ourselves, as many people in our world live independently of God. Well, we’re no longer of this world. We’re in it but we’re not of it. That means our response system is supposed to come from something completely different from the way the world does it. Our response comes from our relationship with God and his word and his promises to us.
We need to agree with the word of God. Can two walk together, unless they agree? (Amos 3:3). So, when God speaks, you say the same thing. The miracle life begins when you agree with the word of God. That’s the way to respond to the word of God. Some people just quote it but there’s no response. It doesn’t work for them because they are just quoting what God said. They just repeat what God said and that’s not a response. You need to agree with God.
“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). The word conduct means manner of life. It means your behaviour. For he has said; God has said, and the Bible tells you what God has said. So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:6). God has spoken, and it is our duty to respond with boldness. Our response should align with His words.
If God says I will never leave you or forsake you, that means I will never lack anything. That means no matter what’s going on, I will always win. He has said, so that we may boldly say. Whatever God says is for our benefit, so we need to respond. Respond in agreement with him. That’s confession of the word and that’s why this scripture in Ephesians 3:16 is so powerful. It says that we are strengthened by His Spirit in our inner being. We are granted the strength and power of God because of his spirit in our inner being.
The NKJV says it this way, “that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man”. The word translated as ‘might’ is miracle-working ability. He has given every Christian miracle-working ability. That’s marvelous. And this means none of us is an ordinary person. This is God’s will for every one of us. This is what God wants. That means all of us must be operating in miracles. Each one of us can do supernatural things. “That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man”. When you have the Holy Spirit in you, you don’t live in fear. You are as bold as a lion. Some people live in fear. Fear of the future, fear of opposition, etc. The Holy Spirit dwells in you so you are greater inside than you might look on the outside.
