Insightful, Biblical Devotions
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. (Prov. 3:5-6).
Do not lean on your own understanding. Learn to lean on the word of God. In the Bible you’ve got an ultimate example of leaning on the word of God and trusting the word of God. Jesus Himself trusted the word of God when He was on this earth. Ten percent of what Jesus said in the New Testament is a quotation of scripture.
When Peter pulled out a sword in the garden, Jesus said, hey, I know they are coming to kill me, but put your sword down. I could call ten thousand angels to fight for me, but then the scripture won’t be fulfilled. Peter was leaning on his own understanding, so he wanted to fight for Jesus by drawing his sword. Jesus answered, “I told you that I am he. If you are looking for me, then let these men go.” 9 This happened so that the words he had spoken would be fulfilled: “I have not lost one of those you gave me.” (John 18:8-9). Learn from our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and lean on God’s word daily.
